About the Career Center

Our Mission: The Career Center serves our community as a catalyst for the development of a career-resilient, self-reliant workforce.

Career-Resilient: Ability to direct your career path in the face of change.

Self-Reliant: Attitude and capability of being your own career manager.

Self-Help with Professional Guidance

In 2004, the East Baton Rouge Parish Library established The Career Center with a grant from the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. The Career Center serves employees who are being terminated, those seeking new skills and responsibilities in the current workplace, those just entering or re-entering the work force, and those looking to change careers. Here's what we do for you.

The Career Center is not an employment agency or a job-training agency. It is a free public service offering trained and professional help and extensive resources to identify your needs while planning a career path and conducting your job search.

Anne Nowak is the Program Director of the Career Center. She is a certified Job and Career Development Coach and holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Ms. Nowak previously worked in Human Resources and Professional Development in the international management consulting industry.

Ursula Bogan Carmena, who founded the Career Center and has more than 20 years experience in the career development field, has retired from daily operations but will remain available for coaching appointments.
